Closer to what?

Saw the film Closer tonight. Pretty depressing. Kinda like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind meets Unfaithful. Jude Law, Julia Roberts and Clive Owens were great - Natalie Portman was phenomenal. Made me think of the past. Yet I liked the film. A lot. For the most part, the Miami Beach audience watching the film took it as seriously as I did (with the exception of the thirty-somethings sitting behind me cracking up during the whole film.) For the rest of us, I guess it struck a chord, and not a pleasant one. Mad props to the writer/director for not selling out to Hollywood. It takes a really solid storyline and an A-list crew to remind an entire audience of theatre-goers that they once dumped someone that totally loved them and that they could have been happy had they not fucked up.
