MONOLOGUE:

I’m doing a story of my life this summer.

Marce gets dragged on one last family vacation to Alaska. You see, Marce’s adventures with a video camera began on these family vacations. Whenever I got a hold of the family video camera, you saw the Alvarez family like no one ever did before. It was reality tv before reality tv even existed. Imagine Marce at the age of 14 - I am making my expository piece on my family, criticizing every family member, making really sarcastic jokes and managing to get my camera priveleges revoked at every possible instance. In order to get the camera back, I had to make a promise that I wouldn’t speak when I took hold of the video camera: “You’ll ruin the footage” they said.

Now fast forward 7 years later. I now have a job that pays me to use a video camera. My skills are infinitely refined. I just got back from a trip whose sole purpose was to document my perception of my spring break experience. Now I can enact my revenge on the world!

Day 1: Intro to the Alvarez Family
Oh yeah…
they’re scared…
They can’t take the camera away from me anymore…
hahaha (evil laugh)
It’s all over….
I now have editing possibilities.
I can now do voice overs….
I can now digitally crop images…
Oh - the possibilities are endless…
Muhahahahha.
I have to also include lots of opportunities for flashbacks. For instance….
Flashbacks to when I was 14…
when I was 16…
Like the time I was filming my dad and his friend, Mr. G (The G family always accompanied us on these trips). They were taking photos of the bison in yellowstone national park. They were all into it - with their huge telephoto lenses, and their big camera bags, too preoccupied to realize that the bison was charging at them. So there I was with the camera, making fun of these two fools with their cameras. Hahaha. And adding my color commentary to the charging buffalo. The thing actually ran past them across from where I was standing and into a hot spring where it suddenly dropped to the ground, kicked its feet into the air and started moaning while it tried to rub its back against the hot rocks. Very amusing. I wish they would have had steady cam back then, because my hand was shaking so much from my laughing that the video came out wobbly. That is just one of the many stories I can retell now in digital format.

Soon, my moment of triumph will arrive. Soon.
