Vivid dreams suck.
Saw High-Fidelity yesterday. Good movie. Made me think. Way too much, actually.
Reminds me of the Communist theory of self-criticism. Practiced by Mao, Leninists, and even by Sendero Luminoso in Peru. The basic concept is that in order to make yourself a better citizen of the state, you purge your “crimes” by criticizing your shortcomings. Everyone does it to make themselves look like a better citizen. Now, you have to be asking yourself how this movie is like self-criticism. I think the effect might have been unique to me, but the movie made me look at my actions, both past and present, and evaluate their validity. If I were to follow my interpretation of the movie directly, then my current actions are blatantly wrong and I should be going back along a different path that I have ruled out entirely. Sucks when you’re wrong. (Or at least perceive yourself to possibly be wrong.)
Still have questions? Watch the movie.
